Simple to operate, and works when the power is out. July 19, 2009 ceffalo 66 out of 67 found this review helpful
I've owned this phone for just over a week and there are several things I like about it.
1. The handsets use two AAA batteries, instead of the specialized battery components common with digital phones. As my experience with my last phone, an AT&T model, left me without the ability to replace the battery, this one thing significantly affected my view.
2. Once you get the knack of the memory storage function that part of it is really quite simple to use, and much of the functions of the phone then become fairly intuitive.
3. The phone is operational when electrical power is out, which is a moderately common problem where I live due to thunderstorms.
There is one thing I don't like about this phone, but it is a small complaint: the voice control only raises the volume to a certain level and leaves me unable to hear at the level of volume that I'd prefer. However, this is a small complaint for the simple fact that if I pay close attention, which I should do anyway, I manage to understand all that is being said over the line.
The phone comes with a nice and unique ringer that can be heard from quite a distance. The handset use is very simple and easy to understand, requiring no reading of instructions to actually begin use.
Setting the timing of the automatic answering recorder is fairly simple as well. I've got mine set to record at six rings.
While I'm still learning about my new phone I must say that I am more than well pleased with it. It's far superior to the last phone I owned simply because of the type of batteries used. I appreciate Panasonic for actually considering the requirements of the user when they designed this phone.
I recommend it. This phone is very nice for the price and is as good, or better, than any other phone at this price level.
Great phone system! August 10, 2009 R. Kohler (Northern Michigan - United States) 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
I've only had the phone for about a week, but so far am VERY happy with it! We have had problems with our cordless phones "disappearing" after the kids were talking, and then the phone would ring and there were no phones around. So we thought the idea of a corded phone in the kitchen with accompanying cordless phones was a great one!
PROS:
Set-up was a breeze - the book is very clearly written and I was able to make all the adjustments I needed. The handsets do need to be charged for 7 hours first...
The answering machine can be set to pick up between 2-7 rings.
The cordless handsets are clear as a bell and I was able to get about 300 feet down my driveway and still have clear reception. My last 2.4 ghz phone cut out in my garage!
The batteries are rechargeable AAA. And they come with the phone!
Kids liked the musical rings, so I let them set 'their' phones. Traditional rings for the main floor.
CONS:
Checking caller ID is now a series of 3 motions - hit MENU, hit SELECT, then arrow down. I did like that my last phone had just arrow down and you were right there. Not a huge deal, but a little inconvenient.
The cord on the corded phone is a little short - we have it mounted on the wall over a counter in the kitchen and you can't move once you answer it. It will probably stretch out a little, but if I want to talk for any amount of time I have to go get a cordless handset.
That's all I can think of for now - you won't regret this purchase!
Absolutely amazing sound quality . . . February 27, 2010 That Was Cool. (Phoenix, Arizona, USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Dismal sound quality plagued my wife and I with our cordless phones for the last few year. Changing the phone frequency when that option was available, changing or checking cords and connections, etc, seemed to have no effect. Even our cell phones were better quality than our home phone. The sound quality was so bad we called each other on our cell phones.
I came to believe that there was some interference in the electrical wiring in the house or high voltage wires outside were the problem . . . and we would never have clear telephone reception. Not . . .
My wife installed this phone when I ordered it for her (I'm in Arizona for health) and she installed it so its easy to install. The first time she called me, even when the batteries were only partially charged I knew we had found the solution to our cordless phone problem.
This is the best reception bar none that I have ever heard from a telephone even when connected by a line.
I actually am stunned by this reversal of our phone problems . . . the sound was such a persistent problem and resisted all efforts to solve it.
Anyway, I know next to nothing about cordless phones so I have absolutely no understanding about why this phone works so good . . . all I can say is that my wife's voice sounds as crystal clear as if she were talking directly into my ear.
I recommend this phone with no reservation at all to anyone wanting a new phone for whatever reason.
Man I'm a happy man to be able to talk to my wife again and be able to understand her.
Needed a Backlit Cordless Phone October 15, 2009 Tallahassee Lassie (Tallahassee) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I specifically ordered this phone because: a. it was corded at the base unit allowing me to use it in the event of a power outage, b. the two remotes had large backlit displays. Items I was unaware off was the ability to block unwanted incoming calls and allowing easy transfer of favorite numbers of friends and family bewteen the two remotes and the base unit. I can't comment on the battery life as we normally keep the remotes in their cradles when not in use. On the negative side, I do wish the answering machine would "beep" or otherwise give an audible sound if someone left a message. A light does flash, but if you are otherwise occupied you may not immediately notice the flashing light.
I would recommend this phone.
Can't Live Without 4 phones now July 15, 2009 bigksc 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
Nice system.Speaker phone on handset is a good feature for using the computer for Microsoft support etc.,just set it in front of You and type and talk away.Call block works but still lets it ring once, which is annoying but, better than nothing.A few more button pushes to delete calls than my old panisonic. It also monitors the answering machine at each handset so you don't have to run to listen, don't think you can turn that option off on just one or more handsets. It's all or nothing.
Wish the 4 and 6 sets had the corded wall phone when I bought mine, but I wanted one to work when the power goes out.I bought 2 extra handsets from Abt.
